Scam alerts

The tricks people on the GST Road belt have reported most. If any of these happen to you, stop and report the listing.

Asking for a token advance before you see the house

"Pay Rs 5,000 on GPay to block it, many people are asking." Genuine owners show the house first. Never pay anything before a visit, even a small amount.

Stays: the full amount before you arrive

A "host" asks for the whole stay by UPI before your trip, or a booking fee for 64 Sqft. 64 Sqft never takes money for a stay. Book only through the Request to book button, wait until your chat says Booked, and pay at check-in or after you see the place.

The owner is "out of town" and will courier the keys

A common story: the owner is in the army, abroad or transferred, and asks for the deposit first. If you cannot meet the owner or a family member at the house, do not pay.

A price far below everything nearby

A 2 BHK at half the usual rent is bait. Check the typical rent on the locality page. We flag listings more than 40% below the local median for review.

A broker who says he is the owner

Ask to see the property tax receipt or EB bill in the owner’s name. Every listing here says Owner or Broker; report anyone who says otherwise.

Asking for your OTP or a QR code payment

Nobody needs your OTP to "receive" money. Scanning a QR code sends money, it never receives it. We will never ask for your OTP outside the login screen.

Fake documents for a plot

For plots, check the patta, chitta and encumbrance certificate yourself on the Tamil Nadu government portal, and have a lawyer read the sale deed before any payment.

  • Keep all talk in chat here until you have seen the place.
  • Visit in daylight, ideally with someone you trust.
  • Pay the deposit only against a signed rental agreement and a receipt.
  • Tap Report on the listing or Block and report in chat. "Asked for advance money" reports go to the top of our queue.
